CompTIA Linux+ (XK0-006) - Skill Labs
The CompTIA Linux+ (XK0-006) Skill Labs align to the CompTIA Linux+ (XK0-006) certification, a vendor-neutral credential that validates foundational to mid-level Linux administration skills. This certification is designed for IT professionals who manage Linux systems in on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments. Through these labs, learners will gain hands-on practice administering, securing, automating, and troubleshooting Linux systems using Ubuntu, AlmaLinux, and other common Linux environments. Learners will manage files, users, groups, software, storage, network services, processes, systemd services, containers, virtualization, backups, and monitoring configurations. They will also configure firewalls, harden operating systems and accounts, implement authentication and authorization controls, apply cryptographic technologies, and validate audit and compliance mechanisms. Additional activities build automation and operational skills through shell and Python scripting, Git-based version control, infrastructure-as-code concepts, orchestration with tools such as Ansible, and responsible AI use in Linux administration. By completing these labs, learners will gain the practical skills and troubleshooting mindset needed to configure, protect, automate, and maintain Linux servers in real-world IT environments.
By the end of this lab set, learners will be able to:
- Configure and manage Linux systems, storage, networks, and services in cloud and hybrid environments.
- Apply best practices including permissions, authentication, firewalls, and system hardening.
- Automate administration tasks and streamline operations with shell scripting, Python, and configuration management tools.
- Deploy, maintain, and monitor containers and virtual machines using leading technologies.
- Troubleshoot system, network, security, and application issues to ensure uptime and reliability for business operations.
