Installing and Configuring Server Roles and Features (SK0-005)

Welcome to the Installing and Configuring Server Roles and Features practice lab. In this module, you will be provided with the instructions and devices needed to develop your hands-on skills.

In this module, the learner will identify the roles that are available in Windows Server operating systems. The learner will also install a role to provide the services for networked clients, as well as identify and install the associated features for the server role.

In today’s modern networks, organizations implement client/server networks. The server’s functionality in networking is to provide services for client operating systems that request these services. The services that servers provide are known as roles, and it is up to server administrators to be able to identify the services the clients require and install the roles accordingly. Along with the roles that servers perform are features that are used by the server to augment a role functionality, and these features might be added as a part of installing server roles within the server operating system.
