Welcome to the Installing of Peripheral Devices Practice Lab. In this lab, you will be provided with the instructions and devices needed to develop your hands-on skills.

  3. Install a local printer.
  4. Install a network printer.
  5. Connect to a network printer.
  6. View Internet printers on IIS.

Key terms and descriptions

Plug and Play (PnP)
A feature that allows the operating system to automatically detect and install hardware devices
Device Manager
A Windows tool used to view and manage hardware devices
Driver
Software that allows the operating system to communicate with hardware devices
Device Status
Shows whether the device is working properly or has issues
Local Printer
A printer connected to a computer wired or wirelessly using a USB or parallel port
Port
The connection interface used by the printer, such as USB or LPT
Network Printer
A printer connected to a network, accessible by multiple devices
IP Address
A unique number identifying the printer on the network
TCP/IP Port
A virtual connection used to send data to the printer over the network
