Overview

This lab is part of a series of lab exercises designed to supplement coursework and provide students with a hands-on training experience based on real-world applications. This series of lab exercises is intended to support courseware for CompTIA A+® certification.

The Control Panel is the central location for changing preferences, configurations, and settings in Windows. Applets are miniature programs that run to accomplish the changes. Windows has three different views for the Control Panel: Category, Large icons, and Small icons. To change views, click the View By drop-down menu (labeled Category by default) in the upper-right corner of the Control Panel and then choose one of the views from the dropdown menu.

In this lab, you will learn to:

  1. Configure Internet options through the Control Panel applet.
  2. Configure personalization options through the Control Panel applet.
  3. Configure power options through the Control Panel applet.
  4. Configure Action Center and UAC settings.
